Lisbon has exceptional devotion to Sports. In fact, the city is the home of many popular sports stadiums and recreational facilities and serves as host for different annual sports tournaments of the world.

Bullfighting. This public spectacle, performed mainly in the regions of Spain and Portugal is considered as sport for brave men. It involves a fighting bull engaged in a series of traditional maneuvers culminating with the ceremonial killing of the bull by sword. Unlike in neighboring Spain, the bull in Portugal is often fought from horseback and is not executed.

Football. Lisbon has 2 of the biggest football teams in Portugal- Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting Clube de Portugal. Portuguese are very dedicated to the sport. Not to mention, Lisbon houses the gigantic Estádio da Luz, one of the largest sports stadiums in Europe.

Golf.  The city is a favorite destination for golfers because of its excellent weather condition and over all pleasant surroundings. Lisbon houses popular courses and one of them is the Clube de Golfe do Paco do Luminar.

Tennis.  Estoril Open is a joint men’s and women’s tennis tournament. The top players of the world gather yearly to compete on the courts of Nacional Stadium of Estoril.

Sailing, kayaking, or windsurfing. If you want water sports, you must definitely try Sailing, kayaking, or windsurfing on the beautiful shores of Lisbon. There are also sailing lessons for first timers.
