Carnaval em Lisboa. Rio Carnival is probably the most celebrated event in the world but did you know that it all started at Lisbon?  Lisbon’s Carnival being a major event of the year is celebrated at the beautiful grounds of Park of Nations. The streets also get really crowded since the processions of floats and parade of jugglers as well as masked performers will start at Praça do Município and will go around throughout the town, going through the old streets of Praça do Comércio, Rua da Prata and ending at Praça D. Pedro IV. You can just drop in along the way to join the fun. There will also be music, dancing, cheering and various street performances.

Estoril Open. It is a joint men’s and women’s tennis tournament. The top players of the world gather yearly to compete on the courts of Nacional Stadium of Estoril.

Rock in Rio.  Famous names in the music industry gathers in Lisbon to celebrate this grandest musical entertainment event in the world. It is five days of non-stop party that highlights a “World Stage” which presents the best artists in World Music and an “Electronic Tent” where the most popular international DJs spin until morning.

Festas dos Santos Populares. Lisbon is filled with fiesta or festivities for their popular saints during the summer season. Saint Anthony’s Day is one of the city’s biggest event. It is the best time to join the people on their colorful street parades down the Avenida da Liberdade and throughout the town and experience their traditional songs and dances. The procession is followed by a huge party.

Noite Mágica. Lisbon joins the world in welcoming the New Year with their magnificent fireworks display. The people usually gather afterwards at Comercio Square to celebrate and party with the national pop singers and band all night long.
